14 Jan 2008 - Professor Sir Howard Dalton
The Secretariat and Members of the Forum were saddened today to learn of the sudden death of Professor Sir Howard Dalton on 12 January. He collapsed while playing Real Tennis.
Howard was one of the founder members of the Environment Research Funders' Forum and Chair from 2004-2007. During this period, Howard led a significant effort to drive forward the Forum's objectives using his enthusiasm, great energy and experience. His death is a great loss to his family, friends and the scientific community.
The Environment Research Funders' Forum has produced an analysis of issues affecting the environment which might impact on the UK's interests over the next 20 years.

3 Jul 2007 - ERFF horizon scanning study
ERFF is undertaking a horizon scanning study to identify the most important 'dimensions of uncertainty' for the environment that may impact on the UK in the next 20 years. The dimensions of uncertainty identified by the study will sit above individual members' strategies and will provide a shared view of the future to guide the identification of UK environmental priorities. It will be informed by collecting the views of key individuals through small workshops or interviews and then a web based prioritisation process will be used (in September) to develop dimensions of uncertainty. If you would like to participate in this exciting study please e-mail .
In 2005, ERFF carried out a baseline review to consider how the use of research for environmental decision-making could be enhanced. Interpretation was identified as an area for further investigation. In 2006 an additional study was commissioned on interpretation and the report of the study, carried out by Rebecca Clark, is now available. Its recommendations will be considered by the ERFF Main Board on 29 March.
