Aim: To facilitate a change in culture to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of UK resources devoted to observations and assessments.
A key to the success of the UK-EOF will be to build and unite the disparate groups, funders, expert scientists and engineers who plan, undertake and /or use the results of observations. The Stakeholders of the framework are wider than the ERFF membership alone and include industry and non-governmental organisations, thus ensuring that all UK expertise and resources are encompassed.
Workstream 5 will ensure that:
- The needs of the observation community are met and clearly described.
- Both policy and science requirements are turned into effective monitoring/observation programmes, using the most relevant technological advances.
- Observations are considered a vital source of evidence and are valued by decision makers
- Data is collected once but used many times.
- Communication is maintained via email, newsletters and the website.
Engagement with the community was discussed at the inaugural workshop in July 2008. Rather than grouping the community into fixed clusters it was decided that input into the UK-EOF, consultations on the outputs or uptake of the results will be most effective if it is targeted in relation to the issue. This relies on you to be proactive and tell us if you want to be involved and how.
The UK-EOF will hold, at least, an annual workshop to inform and gain feedback from the observation community. If you would like to be added to our list of consultees, please send your contact details and a description of any areas of interest to .
