Aim: To remove barriers to financial mechanisms so they are capable of supporting the long-term needs of the UK nationally and internationally.

Workstream 4 has three main aims which will be addressed under three areas of work:

• Workstream 4a: Assessing our investments to refine the current estimate of environmental observation investment by the UK and encourage consistency in determining investment figures across the community.
• Workstream 4b: Financing sustained observations: Barriers and scoping study to identify the barriers to sustaining long-term funding for national and international observations.
• Workstream 4c: Financing sustained observations: Implementation to develop a process to secure sustainable observations. This is linked to Workstream 1b: Decision making framework.
