The future environment - scanning for uncertainty
We have produced an analysis of issues affecting the environment which might impact on the UK's interests over the next 20 years. This list of 11 dimensions such as 'economic growth within environmental limits' was identified by forum members and external members and will:
- Provide a shared understanding of the future for ERFF members;
- Help ERFF members identify shared priorities;
- Inform individual member's own strategies.
A summary of the 11 dimensions and the process used for identification is provided in a one page leaflet - "The Future Environment".
Full details are available in an Horizon Scanning Report which includes input from workshops and interviews.
The reports ends with recommendations about how the forum should take this work forward; for instance, through reviewing research, monitoring trends and sharing outcomes and ideas with partner organizations. This work is now being done by the horizon scanning and research coordination groups through workshops on individual dimensions.
