This group is responsible for driving forward the Forum's core purpose of fostering collaboration between public funders of 'environmental research' in its broadest sense. To achieve its objectives the group works closely with other coordination/ expert groups such as the Global Environmental Change Committee, the UK Biodiversity Research Action Group and the Sustainable Development Research Network. The group initiated both the ERFF Research database and the work on developing an environmental monitoring strategy which has led to the UK Environmental Observation Framework. The UK-EOF is now managed by its own Management Board. As a precursor to the Research database, the group also developed a Research Programmes Whiteboard to track the current research priorities of ERFF member organisations.
The Research Coordination group continues to work on identifying new opportunities to improve cooperation and collaboration between environmental research funders.
